Job Title: Senior Linux Administrator

Package: GBP55k - GBP65k + Bonus

My client who is a large Insurance Company based nationwide are looking for a Linux Administrator who will either be based in Croydon, Wakefield or Glassgow. They will be able to support both Linux and Windows Infrastructure to join our team. The Split will be about 30-40% Linux and 60-70% Wintel. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functions. In addition, you will have responsibility for ensuring the stable operation of the organisations IT infrastructure aligned with our Global standards.

You must have extensive awareness of current IT technologies & terminologies, and the ability to quickly develop an understanding of our environment.

Key to your success in this Senior Linux Administrator opportunity will be your experience and technical knowledge in:
A strong background in a 3rd line technical role with expertise in Linux operating systems (RHEL, Centos and Ubuntu servers), Windows operating systems (2000, 2003, 2008, 2008r2, 2012, 2012r2, 2016).
A technical understanding of Policy Administration platforms and Windows server environments.
Windows Active Directory knowledge is essential as is Exchange and VMWare.
Managing day to day operations for all Linux and Windows operating systems, server hardware and virtual environments.
A good understanding of IT Technical Services such as iSeries, Network, Desktop and Operations and Wintel.
Configure, maintain and review infrastructure services such as Active Directory, Fileservers and other configuration management tools.
Understanding of the workings of Patching tools such as Red Hat Satellite and SCCM.
Previous experience with automation tools such as MS Orchestrator, Red hat Satellite, chef and Puppet.
Exposure to scripting languages such as Perl, Python, Bash & Ruby
An ability to approach and solve problems in a logical manner across multi-sited businesses.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and clearly articulate both verbally and in writing to external suppliers, stakeholders and teams.
Proven experience of expanding, managing and performance tuning of MySql clusters and Linux OS.
Proven experience of working in collaboration with other infrastructure teams.
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Linux Professional Institute LPIC-2
An ITIL qualification is desirable but not essential
