Job Title - Senior Professional Indemnity Underwriter - Lloyds Syndicate
Contract - Permanent
Location - City of London
Salary - GBP75,000 - GBP90,000

Required Experience

The role is working within Large Complex PI, E&O, Architect, Engineers & Designer Construction.
Have extensive knowledge of writing professional indemnity risks
Perform extensive account analysis according to underwriting guidelines which to include through review of underwriting application/submission, research via on-line services, reviewing requested terms and conditions including underlying policy forms when issuing on a follow-form basis, liaising with other Company departments to establish full understanding of risk exposures and completion of underwing (pricing) worksheets.
Perform referrals (as required) with Vice President Errors & Omissions and/or Senior Vice President Professional Lines.
Responsible for timely and correct issuance of bound policies. Crafting of Endorsement wordings for authorization by legal.
Providing direction to the Junior Underwriters and/or Underwriting Assistants in the timely processing of Policy/ Endorsement wordings.
Active role in the development of business in London Market, exploring opportunities and marketing within the London Market and EU as required.
Liaise with actuarial support to develop premium benchmarking and pricing models, with development of account pricing / recommendations
Authorizing of quotes, binders and invoices in accordance with company guidelines.
Ensuring receipt of and review of outstanding information (including underlying / followed policies) to ensure consistency with the terms and conditions agreed at binding.
Accountable for the maintenance of underwriting files in an orderly manner and in accordance with the underwriting guidelines.
Delegation (and supervision) of work to Underwriting Assistant or Assistant Underwriters as deemed appropriate; responsible for the professional development and training of assigned team members or direct reports where applicable.
Marketing - attend client/broker meetings, lunches, dinners and other social outings as applicable. Meet with key brokers regularly to discuss production, service and other topics relative to division operations. Attend important industry conferences and seminars as appropriate.
Contribution to the formation of overall Errors & Omissions strategy / business plans and the execution thereof
Key Responsibilities

Ideally, graduate-level individual with professional insurance qualification, ACII, already obtained
Required 8-10 years demonstrable experience underwriting blue-chip accounts and clients, with expertise and in-depth working knowledge of standard market policy and endorsement wordings.
Excellent analytical skills and solid knowledge of pricing & actuarial models and methods
Must be highly articulate, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - required for daily liaison with clients and brokers including delivering effective presentations and building strong working relationships.
Strone marketing and business development capability - commercial acumen, ability to influence and negotiate to various levels of seniority, internally and externally.
Highly computer literate within MS office applications and an advanced level proficiency using underwriting systems such as Genius a distinct advantage
Methodical approach to work, strong organization skills; capable of dealing with tight reporting dealing and conflicting priorities
Overall team player with collaborative outlook - coaching approach to the development of more junior members of the team.
