Business Development Manager

Job title: Business Development Manager (Insurance Underwriting)

Salary: to £55,000

Location: Home based, Scotland

Purpose of the role:

• Develop relationships with new and existing brokers.
• Undertake reviews to identify areas for improvement and agree actions to optimise profitability.
• Offer advice on various classes of commercial insurance risks including property, liabilities, motor, etc.
• Plan, forecast and targets to achieve the strategic business plan.
• Liase closely with management and company underwriters.
• Identify new business and sales opportunities.
• Attend network events.
• Seeking broker and market feedback.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a commercial insurance sales environment.
• Strong relationships within Scottish broker sector.
• Technical underwriting knowledge – SME/mid size risks – commercial property, EL, PL, motor, business interruption, etc.
• Proven track record of working to sales targets.
• Understand general and legal principles of insurance.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Understand the relevant regulatory and legal frameworks.
• Customer focused approach.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently and use initiative.
• Able to work flexibly to achieve tight deadlines/targets with good organisation skills.
• Computer literate.
• Acturis experience would be beneficial.
• CII qualifications would be advantageous.
• The ability to manage own diary and workload whilst working to tight deadlines with accuracy.
