    Job Title: Commercial Underwriter – Sports & Leisure

    Location: London – Hybrid

    Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 DOE


    Purpose of role

     

    As a Commercial Underwriter specialising in Sports and Leisure, you will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting new and renewal business within this niche market. You will work closely with brokers, clients, and internal teams to assess risk, set appropriate terms, and provide tailored insurance solutions.


    Key Responsibilities

     

    • Evaluate and assess risks for sports and leisure clients, including sports clubs, gyms, recreational facilities, and event organisers.
    • Underwrite new and renewal business within the Sports and Leisure sector, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and standards.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders to facilitate business growth and retention.
    • Prepare and issue insurance policies, endorsements, and related documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes impacting the Sports and Leisure sector.
    • Work closely with the claims, risk management, and sales teams to deliver comprehensive insurance solutions and exceptional service.
    • Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers and clients to secure profitable business.

    Qualifications & Experience

     

    • Minimum of 3 years commercial combined underwriting experience

    Skills and Knowledge

     

    • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make informed decisions. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • In-depth understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and the unique risks associated with the Sports and Leisure industry.
    • Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and with other departments.
    • Strong customer service orientation with a commitment to meeting client needs.
    • Proactive approach to identifying issues and developing effective solutions.
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions and business needs.
