Job Title: Development Underwriter

You will be reporting to the Regional Manager. You will contribute to the regional objectives to achieve strategic goals, objectives and ensure sustainable growth in the region. Responsible for the development and performance of new business acquisition and renewal retention within a limited designated panel in and around Birmingham. Establish plans and strategies to expand the customer base in the marketing area and contributes to the development of training and educational programs for clients and staff
Key Responsibilities:
· Contribute to the development of the companys corporate strategy, particularly in relation to sales objectives.
· Proactive Broker/Client relationship management including action planning, monitoring and management of a selective panel of regional brokers
· Initiate, develop and maintain excellent relationship with brokers and clients in person, via telephone calls and in person
· Prepare individual broker business plans and growth and profitability targets
· Achieve growth and profitability across the portfolio in line with Corporate Targets
· Negotiation of key new business opportunities and renewal of existing key accounts
· Review own sales performance, aiming to meet or exceed targets
· Maintain and develop broker profile and prospect database
· Maintain accurate records within CRM systems reflecting all regional activities, leads, opportunities and quotes
· Deliver high quality underwriting services to own and the wider regions brokers as required
· Achieve target loss ratios of own panel of brokers whilst ensuring company compliance, control systems, and service standards are adhered to
Essential
· Strong trading capability – commercial awareness, negotiation skills, ability to build strong broker relationships
· Customer relationship management
· Understanding of UK Insurance market
· Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication
· Excellent technical underwriting experience of engineering and construction lines

· Understanding of commercial insurance governance and controls
· Experience of Engineering Insurance & Inspection Services preferred
