    Job title: Assistant Claims Technician

    Package: £25,000

    Location: Sevenoaks, Kent

      


    PURPOSE

    To provide a first point of contact for claims issues, responding to and providing advice to the business. Providing a consistently high-level service to our clients in handling claims on behalf of the company.

     


    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Administer residential, commercial and lender insurance claims received from UK
    • Proactively and efficiently manage claims from allocation to settlement including investigating the nature of the claim, determining insurance policy coverage, and setting financial reserves based on the most likely outcome
    • Assist senior team members in the management and settlement of more complex/high profile cases as required
    • Deal with legal and other technical matters received from the business as assigned
    • Draft adhoc, comprehensive, complex letters
    • Respond to enquiries and queries in writing and via the telephone and adhere to service standards
    • Keep up to date records on every claim in your caseload which accurately reflect the current position
    • Carry out training and briefing sessions internally to develop the knowledge and understanding of claims issues
    • Provide detailed and accurate management information to/for the business
    • To produce claims presentations and present to internal staff members and external clients
    • Communicate with all levels of internal and external clients/professionals
    • Be proactive in considering the department’s processes and in highlighting the need for change/improvement
    • Draft, implement and maintain new processes for the work as and when required
    • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with clients and maintain high levels of service
    • Achieve and maintain technical competence in accordance with company standards
    • Identify exceptional items and participate in the resolution of problems/issues and reports to Line Manager/Claims Technician
    • Work within prescribed objectives and procedures ensuring that all regulatory requirements including the General Data Protection Regulations and ICOBS are followed
    • Escalate potential risk appropriately
    • Model and promote First Title Values in all aspects of your daily work (Integrity, Commitment, Teamwork, Service and Leadership)
    • Undertake departmental / FT projects / legal research and other reasonable duties as assigned by Line Manager
    • Continue to develop industry and marketplace knowledge

    • Previous experience in a corporate claims, insurance or conveyancing environment
    • Excellent academic background – Good A’Level grades and GCSE English and Maths at minimum grade B (level 6)
    • Exceptional attention to detail and delivery focus
    • Proactively plans and organises work clearly identifying priorities to meet objectives
    • Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to build strong business relationships with internal and external customers
    • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
    • Excellent negotiation skills
    • Can express facts/ ideas clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
    • Builds rapport with colleagues, contributing to the effectiveness of the team and is a co- operative team member
    • Takes personal responsibility for actions and decisions and takes initiative to make things happen
    • Is open to change and demonstrates flexibility
    • Works hard to reach or exceed personal targets and departmental goals

    • Competent in using Microsoft Office Suite
