Job Title – Product & Underwriting Performance Manager
Contract – Permanent
Salary – Circa £60,000 + Benefits
Location – Northern UK / Home Working
Purpose of the Role:
- Own the development of existing and new products within the organisation
- Support the Underwriting & Operations Director as technical lead for the comany working with key stakeholders to deliver the required revenue within required ULR’s.
- Overseeing and reporting on Underwriting performance and delivery of binder plans, capacity management and placement
- Support Underwriting & Product Governance function
Key Role Accountabilities:
- Ownership of all Underwriting Guides, Policy Wordings, Rating & Product Builds in Policy Administration Systems (Acturis)
- Supporting the Underwriting Team with achieving their financial targets for GWP by encouraging an expansive but disciplined approach to underwriting
- Assist the Underwriting & Operations Director with insurer/ capacity relationships
- Reporting and monitoring of Individual Binder Loss Ratios and any remediation plans. Ensure Binder remediation plan objectives are executed in a timely fashion and ensure adequate underwriting controls are in place to ensure any deviations are identified at an early stage
- Manage the schedule and reporting delivery for Profit Review Group (PRG) meetings with Insurers ensuring relevant actions are progressed and contractual requirements met
- Manage the schedule, contribute to and attend the internal Underwriting, Capacity and Product Governance Committees ensuring relevant actions are progressed
- Provide technical support on project related work and any other ad hoc technical activity as required.
- Work collaboratively with Risk and Compliance or other internal divisions as required
- Maintain technical, legal and market knowledge and develop personal knowledge, skills and technical underwriting authority.
Experience and Skills:
Skills –
- Proficient in Windows based applications, in particular Excel and PowerPoint.
Business expertise/ technical knowledge:
- Understanding of the workings of an Insurer / MGA / Delegated Authority business and trading platforms used
- Good knowledge of general commercial and personal lines insurance products and distribution channels
- Knowledge of the Insurance market, capacity providers and portfolio placement.
- Experience with data management, MI production and summarised reporting to an executive level
- Knowledge of Company and Lloyd’s market products and wordings (including their construction)
- Underwriting, pricing and product governance and the current regulatory environment
- Knowledge of market and regulatory risk and compliance

Professional Qualifications & Experience:
- Professional Certification – Ideally ACII qualified or good progress towards this.
- Experience – Significant experience in the Insurance industry
