    Job Title: Delegated Authority Underwriting Assistant

    Location: London

    Full/Part Time: Full Time – Hybrid 2 days per week office based 

    Salary: £30,000 – £36,600


    Purpose of the role

    As a Delegated Authorities Assistant you will provide support to the Delegated Authorities team to ensure that delegated arrangements are managed effectively in line with syndicate procedures, regulatory requirements and best practice. This is a varied role which offers a great foundation for an insurance career.


    Duties and accountabilities

    • Assist the Delegated Underwriting Manager in approving new coverholders and new binding authorities in line with company procedures, regulatory requirements and best practice.
    • Assist the Delegated Underwriting Manager in developing and maintaining effective oversight of the Syndicate’s delegated authority portfolio; including due diligence of coverholders and quality assurance checks of binding authorities.
    • Assist the Delegated Authorities Senior Analyst in managing the approval process for new DCAs to AEGIS and the ongoing monitoring and oversight of existing DCAs.
    • Assist the Delegated Authorities Manager operating the Delegated Authority audit procedures and ensure that a coordinated approach is adopted between due diligence and audit when managing delegated arrangements.
    • Coordinate and produce management information and reports to assist key stakeholders responsible for delegated authority arrangements.           
    • Provide the business with delegated authority related support, advice and guidance, ensuring that a high level and collaborative service is delivered to key areas of the business.
    • Assist all members of the Delegated Authorities Team with various ad-hoc tasks as required.

    Skills, knowledge, and experience

    The successful candidate will:

    • Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word and Excel.
    • Be computer literate, they should have the ability to develop a full understanding and capability of in-house and MS systems.
    • Have the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of the team.
    • Have excellent communication and social skills.
    • Have numerical and analytical ability and have achieved grades A-C in Maths GCSE or equivalent.
    • Previous insurance experience would be advantageous but not essential.
