THE ROLE
- The pricing team are a fundamental part of the the companies UK business driving analytics and business insight that drives the direction of portfolio underwriting decisions.
- The team are split into technical pricing analysts, product facing pricing analysts and exposure management analysts
- This role sits within the product facing area of the team, you’ll be someone who loves stakeholder management and knowing the who‘s who as you‘ll be networking and talking to the wider business, including underwriters, underwriting managers and our Chief Underwriting Officer to understand the priorities of the business, you‘re comfortable presenting on technical subjects and contributing to shaping the wider underwriting portfolio inline with business objectives.
- As a Senior Pricing Analyst you’ll drive pricing analysis and influence to the growing book of non-standard high net worth household, motor, SME commercial as well as specialty lines and sectors including media and cyber to name a few. The Senior Pricing Analyst plays a critical contributing role supporting influencing the pricing and profitable growth.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Leading and completing pricing analysis and modelling projects to deliver comprehensive pricing and underwriting recommendations into the business.
- Influencing stakeholders in the wider business to deliver budgeted volume and profitability targets over the underwriting cycle.
- Ensuring all recommendations made by the team are consistent with the overall growth and underwriting strategy, and overseeing your own recommendations through to implementation.
- Coaching less experienced members of the team
- Being a key point of contact for product and portfolio underwriting managers and work with them to develop pricing models and approaches that enhance ability to select and accurately price business according to the risk presented
- Ensuring that recommendations result in our customers being treated fairly and consistently in line with the companies values
- Taking accountability for the performance of all pricing models used for your products.
- Monitoring performance, developing, executing and maintaining regular segmented analysis to improve understanding of profitability by cohort
- Executing and maintaining analysis in terms of quote conversion, policy retention, and claims experience, and analysis of competitor behaviour.
OUR MUST HAVES:
- Of graduate calibre with at least 3-4 years’ experience and proven success in a similar role
- Good general knowledge of programming and statistical tools such as Excel, SQL
- High level of numeric competence and excellent data gathering and manipulation skills
- Practical application of in-depth statistical skills within a business environment
- Strong analytical pragmatic reasoning skills
- An aptitude for innovative problem solving
- Excellent spread sheet skills and data manipulation
- Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate the complex
- Business/Customer Focussed
- Deadline oriented
- Hardworking, curious, passionate, enthusiastic and a self-starter
- Comfortable influencing and communicating across a matrix structure
- Experience of working with Underwriters
OUR NICE TO HAVES:
- Knowledge of programming and statistical tools such as Emblem & SAS
- Good understanding of Commercial Lines and Personal Lines insurance through various distribution channels
- Experience working with third party data suppliers
- Seeking or attained relevant professional qualifications
