Job title: Senior Underwriter

Purpose of role:
Our clients’ team of underwriters focus’ on Property and Special lines across the London Market, ranging from Household, Commercial Property, Flood, Major Property and Alternate Risk. As a high performing, diverse team, they are always looking to challenge themselves to deliver exceptional underwriting performance and quality.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Property Binders team as a Senior Underwriter, contributing to a significant line of business within the London market during favourable trading conditions. You’ll be part of a dynamic and established lead market, operating across multiple territories. If you like a challenge and work to high standards, this could be the role for you. Everyone is encouraged to think creatively, challenge the status quo and look for solutions.
Key responsibilities:
- Underwriting new and existing risk presented
- Management of binding authorities
- Contribute to portfolio management
- Support the development of our clients’ products and refinement of their pricing
- Develop new business across the US, Canada and Caribbean
- Support in further development of their underwriting system, control processes and reporting suite
- Conduct market and industry research to develop knowledge
- Have established and well managed broker relationships
- Attend client meetings and events to grow industry knowledge and sell the brand
- Contribute to wordings and contract review process
- Support with the account management and business planning

- Strong mathematical literacy and interested in technical aspects of underwriting and pricing.

- Have a good understanding of catastrophe models and their impact in writing single risks or a portfolio of risks
- Have a keen interest in data analytics
- A natural innovator who always looks for a better way to service their customer
- Ability to prioritise work and manage effectively and accurately under pressure, ensuring that deadlines are met
Experience:
Essential
- Experience of portfolio management is essential
- A long track record of delegated authority underwriting experience
- Multi-class experience (Homeowners & Commercial and/or others
- A-level Science or Maths as a minimum
- A strong track record of working successfully in a team
Preferred
- ACII qualification is favourable
- Experience as a lead market
